Our Story

Accord Curtains was formed in 2008 when owner TL Vernon purchased James Drapery & Blind Service from its founder Tom James. Previously, Mr. James ran his drapery and blind business successfully for 27 years.

Once formed, it soon became apparent the business was serving two distinct customers and to better meet growing demand, the company was split into two distinct business units.

ACCORD CURTAINS and James Blinds

Today, Accord Curtains’ customers range from large 1,000+ bed hospitals to smaller rural hospitals, and from nursing homes to ambulatory surgery centers in Ohio, Florida, Indiana and North Carolina.

Accord Curtains is formed by continuing a pickup and drop off curtain cleaning service for The Ohio State University Medical Center.

We started selling disposable curtains.

A customer asked if we could go to different hospital floors and take down, clean, and rehang all curtains on a regular basis, so that their housekeepers wouldn’t have to take them down.

We cleaned 3,000 curtains.

A customer asked if we would begin barcoding our curtains. We began using QR codes to track the individual history of a curtain.

We cleaned 5,000 curtains.

A customer asked if we would be on call for isolation discharge curtain cleaning. We began our isolation discharge service.

We cleaned 9,000 curtains.

A customer asked if we could give them real-time reports of when each curtain in their facility was last cleaned.

We launched ACTS (Accord Curtain Tracking Software).

We have over 40 customers and cleaned 20,000 curtains.

Accord Curtains provides immeasurable support to the Ohio hospital system with its isolation curtain room pickup service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We cleaned 30,000 curtains.

We expanded operations to the state of Florida.

We have over 140 customers and on track to clean 40,000 curtains.

James Blinds

James Blinds continues to thrive, providing professional installation, cleaning, and repair parts for commercial window treatments. James Blinds’ customers are general contractors, property managers, and commercial businesses.
